Access control and fire alarm monitoring at a secondary battery plant with self-powered door and fire detection sensors (EcoPro)

Access control and fire alarm monitoring at a secondary battery plant with self-powered door and fire detection sensors (EcoPro)

Site: Secondary battery plant (EcoPro)

Self-powered fire detection sensors and door open/close detection sensors were installed in a battery storage warehouse and plant, with all signals monitored on a PC.

1. Purpose

  • A power-free fire detection and door detection system using self-powered sensors.
  • The EcoPro CnG BRO secondary battery storage warehouse and plant lacked an adequate disaster prevention system.
  • A disaster and fire response measure was needed for the workplace and the battery storage warehouse.
  • A restricted-access management system was needed for key rooms such as the generator room, server room and electrical room.
  • Adding signal repeaters extends the transmission range of the self-powered sensors.

2. Benefits

  • Prevents fires and explosions caused by heat generation during battery storage.
  • Establishes a battery storage management plan in line with the Serious Accidents Punishment Act.
  • Early action before a fire breaks out prevents injury and property damage.
  • Access management for areas closed to unauthorized persons (generator, server and electrical rooms) and worker safety management through door open/close detection.
  • Can be extended to other secondary battery and battery manufacturers.

3. System configuration

  1. Self-powered fire / door detection — Generates its own power when a fire or door movement is detected and sends an RF signal
  2. Signal Monitor (receiver) — Shows a unique number for each signal; linked to the PC via RS485
  3. PC monitoring — Fire / door detection monitoring and alarms for each sensor
