Self-powered Valve Open/Close Detection Sensor

A power-free sensor added to existing valves that reports open/closed status wirelessly

MWSG-100MWSG-120

The world's first self-powered valve open/close detection sensor that needs no wiring or batteries. When the valve's rotation reaches a set stroke, its kinetic energy generates power and the sensor sends a signal distinguishing open from closed. Installed as an add-on to existing valves with no wiring work, it remotely monitors valve status that is hard to check by eye.

  • PowerSelf-powered (no battery)
  • Dust · water protectionIP57
  • Transmission rangeapprox. 100 m (open field)
  • InstallationAdd-on attached to existing valves
  • Explosion-proof designIECEx intrinsic safety (Ex ib IIB T4 Gb)

01How it works

  1. Valve operation

The operator fully closes or opens the valve.

  2. Kinetic energy → electricity

The valve's rotation makes the sensor generate power.

  3. Open / closed signal

The status is distinguished and sent as an RF signal.

  4. PC · LCD · SCADA

A valve that is not closed keeps triggering a warning on screen.

02Features

Add-on installation

Just attach the module to the valve already in use. Installation costs and construction time are greatly reduced.

Safe ultra-low power

Low-power self-powered signals allow safe use at gas and chemical sites, with an IECEx intrinsically safe explosion-proof design.

IP57 dust- and waterproof

Also used on indoor and outdoor drain valves.

PC · SMS monitoring

Valve icons are placed on the MAP, and when a valve moves, alerts are given by pop-up, voice and text message.

Custom module development

Through consultation, we develop self-powered modules to fit the customer's valve specifications.

Benefits of installation

  • Remote checking of valve status that is hard to verify by eye
  • Prevention of mis-operation caused by human error
  • Attached to existing valves — applied without complex installation or construction
  • Low-power self-powered, dust- and waterproof for safe use on site

09FAQ

QDo we need to replace our existing valves?

No. It is an add-on that attaches the sensor module to the valves you already use. If the valve specifications differ, we adapt the module through consultation.

QCan it send data to SCADA?

Data is passed to the control room SCADA via the Signal Monitor's RS-485 communication and relay contacts, and at GIS substations it has been integrated with an IEC 61850 dedicated monitoring panel.

QCan it be used in hazardous (explosion-proof) areas?

The sensor is designed as the EXIMWS Series, certified for IECEx intrinsically safe explosion protection (Ex ib IIB T4 Gb). We will confirm the applicable models and ratings together with your site conditions.
